Presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan to discuss military and economic cooperation between countries

(ITAR-TASS). Questions of military and economic and trade cooperation, the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement will be discussed today in Baku, the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan Dmitry Medvedev and Ilham Aliyev. The Russian leader is in Azerbaijan with official visit.

Following the talks, planned to sign a border treaty between Russia and Azerbaijan, as well as intergovernmental agreement on the rational use and protection of water resources of transboundary river Samur. As explained reporters Russian presidential aide Sergei Prikhodko, "The Treaty is designed to consolidate the line of the state border from the point of junction of state borders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Georgia to the Caspian Sea.""Russia is the first country with which Azerbaijan has signed the agreement on the state border", - he added. With regard to the agreement, that "it provides for the establishment of Russian-Azerbaijani commission, which will implement the joint management of water distribution Samurskiy on a parity basis - 50 to 50 - less environmental dumping," explained the president's aide."These documents are fundamental for the further development of the strategic partnership between Russia and Azerbaijan, and make a real contribution to strengthening security and stability in the Caucasus", - said Prikhodko.

Assistant to the Russian president said that Azerbaijan would also signed a supplementary agreement to the contract to increase the supply of Azeri natural gas in 2011-2012.The contract for the sale of Azeri gas was signed in October last year between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan and Gazprom. Originally he intended to supply up to 500 million cubic meters of gas a year. However, in late 2009 the parties came to agreement to increase the volume doubled. According to Prikhodko, Medvedev and Aliyev separately to discuss issues of cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan in the oil and gas field."Among the priorities - energy cooperation, promising investment projects", - he said.
