Knut Vollenbek: Georigan population in Abkhaia has a right to be educated in Georgian

Knut Vollenbeck, OSCE High Commissioner for the national minorities and Indira Vardania, so called Education Minister of secessionist Abkhazia discussed questions of the education on Georigan language in the primary schools of Gali region. They as well discussed the situation with the education of Armenian children.
The Apsnipress reports that Vardania informed High Commissioner that in Abkhazia Armenian schools are functioning well and the governemnt is financing them in the same manner as all other schools.

She as well said that in all schools of Abkhazia according to the legislation about the "state language" the Abkhazian is thaught, as well the history and the geography of Abkahazia is thaught on Russian language.
Knut Vollenbeck was especially interested in the process of education of the Abkhazian language in Georigan schools of Gali region. Minister replied that the schools are given the same methodology for learning of Abkhazian language in Armenian and Georigan schools.
Vollenbek said that a year ago when attending the Gali school No 1 , pupils said to him complaining that they prefer to be educated in native Georgian then in Russian. (The Gali School is a Russian one, but here are lessons of Georigan language and Abkhaizan language as well.)
"Can you give the opportunity for children to be educated in Georigan?" - OSCE representative said.
Vardania replied that she disagrees that pupils of the Gali region are mistreated in anything.
Despite of this Knut Vollenbeck said that according to the Abkhazian Constitution Article 6, any groups of population of Abkhazia have a right to be educated in own native language and to communicate on that language. Moreover he said that parents of pupils have a right to choose a schools and a language of eduaciton of its children according to the international practice and CoE standards.
