Direct flights with Bulgaria discussed by Economic Minister

Vera Qobalia, Economic Minister discussed with Bulgarian government representatives the direct flights between Georgia and Bulgaria.

In the frames of her visit in Bulgaria Qobalia met with Bulgarian Transport and Communications Minister. Bilateral cooperation with Georgia and intensification of land and sea transport communications was discussed between parties. Direct flights as well are planned to establish. New trends in the information technology were shaped for future cooperation.

The parties opened the Georgia-Bulgaria VI intergovernmental sitting. The goods turnover through the Black sea and automobile transportation between two countries will be intensified. Other strategic interests were discussed, such as agriculture questions, energy issues and tourism. 

At the Georgian-Bulgarian business forum Georgian Investment Agency presented a potential of the country. The Economic Ministry informs in Bulgaria, the interests towards Georgia increased. Georgia is one of the ten's important trade partners for Bulgaria. The trade turnover in 2011 reached USD 279 mn. This figure for 86% higher of last year's data. Georgia exports to Bulgaria mainly a native copper, concentrates, chemical fertilizers and nuts. In turn Bulgaria supplies the Georgian market with oil products and medical necessities alongside with other goods.

Notwithstanding this at the meeting with Bulgarian government representatives Vera Qobalia declared that the trade potential is much bigger and is not exploited in full. There should be established joint enterprises for volatile oils production and for this purpose new agriculture plants cultivation is necessary in Georgia. Bulgaria is a main supplier of rose and lavender oils for Europe and the land and climate in Georgia is an ideal one for cultivation of essential oils production. One more strategic direction is  a tourism, for this  direct air flights should be established. At the meeting with Bulgarian officials cruise ships restoration was planned between two countries.
