Georgian flags will be lowered at buildings of state institutions across Georgia starting today and during 2 days including President’s administration, parliament, governmental chancellery and ministries.
The decision was made at the order of Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili to respect memories of Georgian soldiers who died during the August 2008 Georgian-Russian war against the Russian aggression and in Georgia’s territorial unity.
Week of Memory continues in Georgia. Georgian citizens will be wearing Red Poppies attached to their chest in paying tribute to Georgian deceased soldiers. An exhibition will be held at TBC Gallery of works made by children of heroes who died during the 2008 war.
The activity of Red Poppies is held at the initiative of Prime-Time newspaper. The archive of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) held an exhibition at National Museum with title “Stolen History of Georgia.”
Documentary material reflecting Soviet Georgia was at display. A film “Slow-acting mines” was shown drawing parallels between events of 1921 and 2008.
