The 2012 VIG Kids Camps gave around 500 children of Vienna Insurance Group employees from 25 countries the chance to spend two unforgettable and action-packed weeks at summer camps in Austria. Children, among them 17 from Georgia, took part in various social and entertaining activities.
Paata Lomadze, General Director of GPI Holding: " We are glad that kids of our employees were given an opportunity to spend wonderful time at the summer camps in Austria - organized by our mother company Vienna Insurance Group. We appreciate that kids have a chance to interact with children from different countries, with different languages and cultures, take part in various social activities. This of course nurtures the sense of social responsibility and respect to diversity from this very young age. On the other hand, such activities enhances the corporate values we - as a member of the VIG family - cherish."
The European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations provided the
inspiration for bringing the children at the summer camps into contact with elderly people in Austria.
"The Kids Camps are a great opportunity for our employees' children to encounter other languages and cultures at an early age. It was lovely to see the boys and girls enjoying their stay in Austria so much. We are also committed to teaching young people the importance of interacting with other generations and instilling them with a sense of social responsibility. The international encounters between young and old were clearly moving for members of both generations, and helped to bring all those involved closer together," explained Günter Geyer, Chairman of the Managing Board of Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein.
International holiday camps
This year saw the VIG Kids Camps take place for the third time. At the camps, the children are given the chance to get involved in countless activities including hikes to old fortresses, voyages of discovery into salt and stalactite caves, sporting challenges such as aerial ropewalks, volleyball tournaments and day trips to destinations like Vienna and Salzburg's historic old towns. The children attending the camps from Austria, as well as the Central and Eastern European countries in which the Vienna Insurance Group is represented, have the chance to share new and exciting experiences with other children from numerous European nations. This is in line with Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein's aim of promoting cross-cultural exchange and harmonious relations between people from different cultural backgrounds.
