US President Barack Obama has accepted the Democratic Party nomination, as he seeks another term in office.
He is taking on Republican Mitt Romney for the White House in November.
Laying out his goals for America in front of delegates at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, Obama asked for patience in rebuilding the country's weak economy.
"I accept your nomination for President of the United States," Obama said.
"But note this America: our problems can be solved. Our challenges can be met. The path we offer maybe harder, but it leads to a better place and I'm asking you to choose that future.
"I'm asking you to rally around a set of goals for your country. Goals in manufacturing, energy, education, national security and the deficit. Real achievable plans that would lead to new jobs, more opportunity and rebuild this economy on a stronger foundation.
"That's what we can do in the next for years and that's why I'm running for a second term as President of the United States."
Locked in a close fight with Romney, Obama faces the challenge of recapturing the magic of his historic campaign of four years ago and generating enthusiasm among voters, weary of economic hardship.
His televised address was a chance to connect with millions of Americans.
