The Tbilisi City Court sentenced ten employees of the penitentiary department to two-month preliminary custody.
The six arrested persons are charged in the torture of prisoners. They are: Levan Purtskhvanidze, Oleg Patsatsia, Levan Pkhakladze, Boris Parulava and Koba Chikvatia, the crime envisages from 12 up-to 17 years in prison.
The rest of them - Giga Mkurnalidze, Davit Khuchua, Viktor Kacheishvuili and Giorgi Kvaratskhelia are charged in humiliating inmates. The crime envisages from 4 up-to 6 years in prison.
Several lawyers of defense side had offered to the Prosecutor's Office bail in return to freedom of detainees. However, the court rejected the motion.
