Georgia's Ministry of Interior Affairs officially confirms the fact of detention of Kakha Zhorzholiani. The statement was published on the web page of the Ministry.
"Mestia police officers detained Kapiton (Kakha) Zhorzholiani. He is accused under the article 166 of the Administrative Violations Code of Georgia. Kapiton Zhorzholiani has verbally and physically assaulted the member of Mestia polling station commission Archil Sopromadze. According to the decision of the Zugdidi court Zhorzholiani was sentenced to 40 days of imprisonment. It's worth mentioning that investigation against Kapiton Zhorzholiani was also launched three days ago under the article 125 when he verbally and physically assaulted Archil Sopromadze, however Zhorzholiani was questioned and released. After Sopromadze repeatedly reported the police Zhorzholiani was detained and while transferring Kapiton Zhorzholiani to the court a certain group of strangers has surrounded the car, hampered the movement and offered resistance to the police. On the fact of putting up resistance to the police an investigation was launched under the article 353 envisaged by the Criminal Code of Georgia. Investigation is conducted by Mestia regional police division", - the statement reads.
