The session in Georgian Central Election Commission lasted till late night yesterday. At the meeting with 11 votes against 2 was adopted regulation of decree on photo-video shooting during the election process.
The final version of regulations are as following: during the whole voting process at polling stations the photo and video shoot will be available only in specially designated places.
The cameramen and photographers will be able to move freely and take shots from anywhere inside the polling station for the starting ten minutes; after those ten minutes expire, they will have to take a specially designated place within the precinct and continue filming from there. Filming voting booth and desk list is prohibited. Filming and taking photos should not be closer than three meters from an object which will be filmed.
If a cameraman or a photographer decides to leave this specially designated place, he/she won't be able to return to that place in the same polling station and continue filming.
The representatives on NGO criticized the resolutions. The executive director of Young Lawyers' Association, Eka Popkhadze says that the new regulations create a lot of barriers for the journalists. The head of the Regional Media Association did not agree with the decision.
