Goga Khaindrava was interrogated in police station last night. As Khaindrava told journalists the questions mainly concerned the video footage released by the Prosecutor's Office.
Goga Khaindrava confirmed that he met Revaz Lortkipanidze in France, who is his friend. Khaindrava says that 35 years of friendship connects him with Lortkipanidze.
Khaindrava will again be interrogated on 27 September.
The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia released video footage yesterday. According to Chief Prosecutor Murtaz Zodelava, the National Gendarmerie of France provided the Georgian party with video footage of a meeting between "thieves-in-law" who are heads of the criminal network and Goga Khaindrava. As Zodelava said, the material concerns a significant issue for the state's national interests. Zodelava says the aim of the meeting between thieves-in-law and an opposition representative was to cause destabilization in Georgia.
"On the basis of materials provided by The National Gendarmerie of France to Georgian law enforcement officials an investigation was launched according to the Criminal Code of Georgia. Regarding the fact the first interrogation of Giorgi Khaindrava has been held by the law enforcement bodies today. The Main Prosecution Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia are continuing the investigation concerning the above mentioned materials. The following interrogation process of Giorgi Khaindrava will take place on September 27" - The Ministry of internal Affairs released the statement in this regard.
