Tragic accident occurred in Gurjaani last night - nine months old girl was found drowned in the clay container after an hour of search. The family says they left the child asleep in the bedroom, but began to search her after they found the child was no longer in her bed.
The accident was promptly assessed as a result of a political pressure on the family, because the aunt of the child was the coordinator of the Georgian Dream opposition coalition in the region. Majoritarian MP candidate of the GD, Manana Berikashvili accused her rival from the ruling party Giorgi Ghviniashvili of organizing the murder of the child personally, but later, she changed her words, saying it she just said what the family thought about the reasons of the death.
Based on the complaints of the family, Berikashvili says the family was under permanent pressure from Ghviniashvili and even offered money to the GD coordinator demanding disruption of polls in the region instead.
One of the leaders of the coalition, Irakli Alasania demanded immediate criminal investigation of the accident.
Other members of the coalition called on the society and politicians to abstain from making allegations to any direction until the investigation is over. GD press speaker Maia aPanijikidze says only after this it is possible to raise the issue of accountability of perpetrators.
ANother leader of the GD Davit Zurabishvili posted on his facebook page in this regards. He says alleging people for such crime is even graver than the crime itself.
Giorgi Ghviniashvili has also commented on this horrifying fact. He says using this tragedy for political speculations is absolutelt unacceptable.
