United States` ambassador to Georgia Richard Norland holds meeting with Adjara authorities in Batumi. Richard Norland has met with the head of the Adjara Supreme Council and the mayor of the city.
The meeting was introductory and it was closed for media. Ambassador said they focused on the general situation in Georgia and the projects that are planned in Batumi. The ambassador promised support to Batumi mayor in the projects aiming at infrastructure development.
I think what you see in Batumi is the micro-picture of the political situation in Georgia as a whole. Where two sides of a political structure will need to find ways to work together. An in both cases, there is every evidence that the two side intend to keep the interest of the Georgian people as their primary motivation. In Batumi there is quite clearly an interest in maintaining the strong level of foreign investment that is needed to keep the city and the region moving forward economically. and it was quite clear to meet that the mayor is quite determined to work with all of the relevant groups here in Batumi and in Tbilisi with the ministries in order to get the resources needed to move forward,` ambassador Norland said.
