The first session of the new parliament of the 8th convocation will be held on October 21 in parliamentary building in Kutaisi, Imereti region. The sitting will begin at 13:00.
Organizational issues will be mainly discussed as well as assigning of authorities to new MPs. The sitting will be opened by the eldest MP.
Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Zurab Kharatishvili will then introduce MPs with election results.
Chairman of the parliament, vice-speakers and chairmen of factions and committees will be elected. Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II and representatives of Diplomatic Crops accredited in Georgia will attend the sitting.
Final reconstruction works are ongoing at the parliamentary building. The sitting hall and administrative building are ready. Façade is being refurbished.
Members of Georgian Dream coalition believe that the idea of re-location of parliament to Georgia's capital Tbilisi will be supported.
