The first session of the new parliament of the 8th convocation was held at the parliamentary building in Kutaisi, Imereti region yesterday. The MPs elected the speaker of the parliament vice-speakers and chairmen of factions and committees.
The majority will have three vice-speakers instead of four as Zurab Tkemaladze refused to assume the post. One vice speaker will be representative of the parliamentary minority and one - representative of Adjara Autonomous Republic.
The new parliament of the 8th convocation will have 15 parliamentary committees and 6 factions.
The parliamentary majority will have three factions:"Georgian Dream", "Republicans" and "Free Democrats". The parliamentary minority will be represented by the three factions: "National Movement", "National Movement - Majoritaries" and "National Movement - Regions".
