Prof. Nestan Kirtadze, President of the "EU-Georgian, Abkhazian and Ossetian International Movement - for peace, democracy and development" met with management of Security and Defense Agenda (SDA), leading security and defense think tank in the capital of Europe to discuss practical cooperation following implementation of the strategic plan of EUGAO. Prof. Kirtadze offered to SDA to co-organize a special conference in Brussels on the topic of post-conflict mediation and preservation of peace between Georgians, Abkhazians, Ossetians and Russians after the war of 2008.
EUGAO will also join SDA as a full member shortly.
Mediatory talks between mentioned parties are the innovation of EUGAO, which, as Prof. Kirtadze hopes, will help to advance in post-conflict mediation in the unique format of international civil diplomacy. Meetings are planned to be organized during 2013 in different capitals of Europe, where representatives of civil society and civil leaders of Georgians, Abkhazians, Ossetians and Russians will discuss practical and mutually beneficial steps towards peace and prosperity in the region.
The expert conference and negotiations, which are planned with SDA, will be devoted to discussion of the strategy of peace keeping and development policies in the region, offered by the EUGAO, by representatives of Georgians, Abkhazians, Ossetians and Russians with expert feedback and mediation made by peace keeping experts from the European Union. Special focus will be given to the issue of the development of economic, social, cultural and academic integration of Georgians, Abkhazians and Ossetians as a key approach towards peace keeping.
Representatives of NATO are to be invited also.
The negotiations are to happen in late February - early March 2013 in Brussels and most probably will be held in closed doors format.
