Minister of Defense of Georgia Irakli Alasania has made his firs comments regarding the detention of former minister of defense Bacho Akhalaia and two other senior officials of the same ministry. Irakli Alasania said it was a very sorrowful fact, adding the charges, which the there former officials would face were grave enough.
`It is a very grave allegation, but the investigation will do its work. A minister cannot comment on the investigation in any case. Any person is innocent, until their guilt is proved at the court, therefore, we respect the presumption of innocence,` Alasania said.
He also told journalists today that he had already met with the commanders of the armed forces, after which he could assert that the ministry of defense and the armed forces worked in usual regime to provide defensibility of the country.
