Chief prosecutor of Georgia Archil Kbilashvili has made definitions on why the detention of Bacho Akhalaia took place now and not earlier or later. Prosecutor says the privates, who are the complainant side in this case, were going to make information public, which could become an obstruction for the investigation afterwards.
Archil Kbilashvili and the minister of justice, Tea Tsulukiani have ruled out political motives of the detention of Akhalaia and two other senior authorities and pledge to present more evidence about their involvement in criminal activities.
Tsulukiani also expects more criminal cases to be launched against Akhalaia. For example, the family of Sergo Tetradze, a Georgian soldier serving in Afghanistan, who according to his relatives died in suspicious environment. The family of the late soldier has already submitted complaint to prosecutor`s office.
