Former minister of defense and interior Bacho Akhalaia, who is under pre-trial detention currently with several charges, does not intend to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights. His lawyers say it is legally possible to appeal the ruling of local court in Strasburg court, but at this moment the defendant refuses to use this chance.
Former minister was charged with soldiers` abuse and illegal confinement, but he may face more charges as the prosecutor`s office is working on over 2000 complaints submitted to the office during past few weeks.
Yesterday, the appeals court rejected the motion of the defense to bail out the former minister.
