Internal audit has revealed serious violations at the ministry of infrastructure and regional development. The violations date back to the period, when Ramaz Nikolaishvili was the minister. Current minister, Davit Narmania says the audit revealed violations in the process of tenders announced by the ministry and the purchase of street lighting systems.
`We have faced two kinds of violations, which need to be further learnt by corresponding investigation structures: first is the violation of the law on state purchase terms and it refers to unacceptably high price paid for the street lighting systems, which is prohibited by Georgian legislation and the second is the violation of tender terms - we have found that the terms of the tenders announced by the ministry were prepared so that it fit concrete companies and this should be further investigated too. It refers to purchase of street lighting systems and devices in the Kakheti Region and the East-West central highway,` Minister Davit Narmania has said.
