Tbilisi mayor`s office has released a special statement in response to the announcement of the minister of internal affairs of Georgia made in the air of Maestro TV yesterday. Irakli Gharibashvili confirmed the growth of crime with 50% recently, but he also added that fact of robbery and hooliganism were mostly registered in the parks and squares, which are under the security of the Tbilisi security service.
Mayor`s statement says that the prevention of the crime, reaction on it and protection of security is the competence of the interior ministry regardless of ownership of objects.
`Hereby, it should be emphasized that according to the information we have, no facts of crime has been registered in the squares and parks, which are under the security of the Tbilisi security service. Therefore, minister`s statement is a lie. This statement indicated once again, that the Ministry of Internal Affairs continues with making irresponsible political statements without being familiarized with its obligations and functions,` the statement says.
