7 people died in a road accident that took place in Imereti Region in Western Georgia at 20:00 p.m. on Monday (December 03). As reported, the crash was caused by a metal helix, which fell down from a truck moving from Kutaisi to Tbilisi and fell on a microbus driving on the highway.
6 passengers were killed immediately, another one died as soon as he was hospitalized. 7 more passengers with various injuries were hospitalized.
Emergency, rescue and patrol police brigades arrived at the village of Tseva, as soon as the accident took place. Rescuers had to use special equipments to cut off the damaged roof of the microbus to take out the survived passengers from there.
The interior ministry of Georgia reported, the driver of the truck is a citizen of Turkey and he has already been detained.
Investigation into the road accident is in progress under 1st and 3rd parts of the article #276 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which stipulates 10 years of imprisonment.
