Investigation Department of the Ministry of Finance plans to interrogate MP Davit Sakvarelidze regarding the scandalous case of privatization of the Rike Park in Tbilisi, however, the member of the United National Movement says he does not intend to visit the department, though he is prepared to answer any question officially but only publicly. Chief Prosecutor`s Office of Georgia has released a special statement in this regards.
`The Rike territory was sold off on May 2, 2006 with a contract of terms by the Land Management and Appropriation Commission of the Tbilisi Mayor`s Office, however, the same object was purchased back with budget funds and for much higher price. This circumstance triggers doubts regarding the legality of these operations. One of the members of the Land Management and Appropriation Commission of the Tbilisi Mayor`s Office then was that time chief of the general inspection of the Tbilisi government Davit Sakvarelidze. To find the truth, his interrogation as a witness is very important,` the statement says.
