Minister of Justice of Georgia Tea Tsulukiani spoke about the recent arrests of former officials in Georgia since the change of government in the interview with a French TV France 24. She touched several high-profile criminal cases, one of which was the murder of Sandro Girgvliani and did not rule out detention of some other that-time officials.
When questioned about the political motives in the process of investigations and detentions, Tea Tsulukiani answered that no politics was involved in the process, but it was just the process of finding truth, which was demanded by Georgian society to be done urgently.
Minister also said that the government of Georgia now had two basic directions for reducing the number of inmates in Georgia`s prisons - this is amnesty and reduction of sentences on light crimes, however, she also added that the scales of the amnesty required reduction for providing stability and safety of the society.
