MP Davit Sakvarelidze may be taken to the investigation department of the finance ministry for interrogation forcefully as he refuses to go there asserting he will answer any question only officially and publicly. Chief prosecutor, Archil Kbilashvili says that Sakvarelidze is obliged by the legislation to go to the department to answer the questions of the investigation and if he refuses to do so, he will thus violate the law.
Sakvarelidze was summoned for interrogation regarding the privatization of the Rike park in Tbilisi.
The MP from the United National Movement said it yesterday and reiterated today that he is prepared to answer any question and take responsibility for any decision taken by him in the past but only publicly. Moreover, the MP asserts the name of the country`s prime minister was also tied with the privatization of the aforementioned territory and the investigation should interrogate Ivanishvili in the first place.
The Rike territory was sold off on May 2, 2006 with a contract of terms by the Land Management and Appropriation Commission of the Tbilisi Mayor`s Office, however, the same object was purchased back with budget funds and for much higher price two years later.
