22nd round of the international peace talks on Georgia-Russia relations held in Geneva ended without agreement. Two working groups held separate meetings. In Working Group I, the participants reviewed the security situation on the ground and assessed it as relatively stable and calm since the last round of the Geneva Discussions. All participants reiterated the need to resume the meetings of the Gali Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM). The participants also discussed the issue of Non-Use of Force and International Security Arrangements, including concrete proposals by participants.
The Russian delegation walked out of the meeting of the Working Group II. They objected to the discussion of the IDPs` repatriation and problems on crossing administrative border line,
Deputy Minister of foreign affairs of Russia slammed Georgian side for failing to present new ideas for providing security in the Caucasus.
Georgian side asserted the opposite - they say specific projects were presented for providing peace and security on the occupied territories, issues of water and gas supply to the residents of the breakaway regions, which neither the Russian delegation, not the representatives of the puppet regimes tried to discuss.
