The Board of Trustees of the Georgian Public Broadcasting selected five candidates out of competing 143 candidatures for the post of the vacant seat of GPB's General Director.
The candidates are as follows: Giorgi Baratashvili, Tinatin Rukhadze, Natia Abramia, Megi Tavdumadze and Nikoloz Makharashvili. They gained seven and more votes of the Trustees.
According to the contest rule, seven votes out of 12 members of Board were required for passing the first round to enter the second stage.
The post of GPB's General Director has been vacant since December 14 after Gia Chanturia, former General Director, quit his position. The Board of Trustees of GPB satisfied Chanturia's application for resignation. The Board will have to approve a new General Director of GPB within one month as required by the law.
