The amendments to the law on general courts will be enforced on May 16-17 - parliament speaker Davit Usupashvili announced at the briefing today. Speaker explained that in case the president did not sign the draft law until May 15, he was authorized to sign it and the document would be enforced in two days.
`The package of draft laws is on the table of the president now and he has a deadline to sign it until May 15. If president does not change his mind and refuses to sign the document, I have an authority according to the constitution of Georgia to sign it and I will use this right in order to enforce this law in a few days after being signed,` Usupashvili said.
Davit Usupashvili was questioned by journalists about the candidate of the Republican Party for the president. The Georgian Dream coalition promised to nominate presidential candidate next Monday. Usupashvili explained that his party did not plan to nominate their candidate, but they were prepared to work with the coalition members to find the worthy person for the president.
`Now the main thing is to select a candidate, who will be indeed a president of Georgia. The person must be the unifier of the country and the governor of the state. We should finally get the president, who will unite all of us` Usupashvili said.
