Minister addressed the soldiers at the Camp "Leatherneck" and wished them successful accomplishment of the mission and peaceful return to the homeland: "you are the heroes of our country. We will do our best for you to serve here devotedly and for your families to feel comfortable in motherland. By fighting in Afghanistan you are defending dignity of your country as well as an international security."

The members of the Union met with the Georgian soldiers in a friendly environment. Paata Burchuladze gave the best regards of Chatholicos-Patriarch Ilia II to the personnel of 33rd and 42nd battalions and presented them with the Icon of Virgin Mary and Georgian gifts. "Shvidkaca" held a concert for the soldiers too. Giorgi Kartvelishvili read a lecture on the epoch of Georgian king Giorgi XI. "I am very grateful to the Fund "Iavnana" and to all of you who arrived here to tell our warriors how much the Georgian people love them. This visit is the sign of expressing gratitude towards our soldiers", said Irakli Alasania.

Minister awarded the Georgian and the U.S. military servicemen with the medals "General Mazniashvili" and "General Kvinitadze" for the successful planning of military operations and large-scale exercises, for a high professionalism revealed during commanding of units, for the successful preparation of troops and maintaining their combat readiness. Minister also granted Commander of the Georgian peacekeeping contingent COL Alexander Kiknadze with the Order of Excellency.

Within the visit in Afghanistan, the MoD delegation held a meeting with the Commander of the Task Force Belleau Wood. The key topic of discussion was the NATO-led mission and post-ISAF period.
