Within an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Minister of Defence of Georgia continues meetings with NATO representatives and ISAF military top brass. Irakli Alasania has held the meeting with ISAF Commander Joseph Dunford in the NATO Headquarters today. Deputy Chief of the JS of GAF COL Vladimer Chachibaia also attended the meeting.
The sides highlighted Georgia`s role in the post-ISAF period in Afghanistan and discussed all those measures related to the security of Georgian military servicemen. "We have held the meetings with all the senior representatives of NATO coalition forces and talked on the joint plans. General Dunford shared his vision with me that will be submitted to the NATO Ministerial in October. Debates also referred to Georgia`s role after the end of the ISAF mission. A focus was made on providing maximal security following the tragedy that had happened on the Georgian bases several months ago," said Irakli Alasania. Following the meeting Minister expressed sorrow for the tragedy that had taken place in Washington and condoled to the ISAF Commander on behalf of the military personnel of GAF.
Today, Defence Minister has also held meetings with NATO Deputy Senior Civilian Representative in Afghanistan Mr. Earle "Lee" Litzenberger and LTG Mark A. Milley - ISAF Joint Command - IJC in Kabul.
