Yesterday president of Georgia held a press conference and expressed his concerns related to the fact that without agreeing with Georgia Russia has extended so called boarder zone to eleven kilometers in depth of our territory, namely on river Psou, Abkhazia region.
Giorgi Margvelashvili believes that this was not merely a technical step made for ensuring security of Sochi Olimpic Games. He stated that this was a political act and by this Russia once again infringed territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia and declined international law principles and its international responsibilities.
President of Georgia called international community to react adequately and to actively get involved in regulation of this issue.
"It is obvious, that this is not a mere technical step and has particular political meaning in circumstances where Russia actually holds complete military and security control over this territory. We suppose this fact should not stay beyond attention of international community. Furthermore, we would like to stress that Georgian side expressed its full readiness to be actively involved in issues of ensuring security matters at Sochi Olympics. We therefore express our position related to this issue"- declared Georgian President.
Giorgi Margvelashvili also answered questions from journalists.
