According to Prime Minister's Press Service information Prime Minister of Georgia participated in the session South Caucasus and Central Asia: the Way to the Global Economy. Irakli Garibashivli engaged in a group discussion along with the other world leaders.
In his speech, Irakli Garibashvili focused on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway construction, which should be completed in 2015. This railway will connect the Caspian Sea Region with Europe via Georgia and Turkey.
"Global economy has undergone significant changes in the last decade. Economic competition between countries has brought about the intensification of globalization processes. Possibilities offered by emerging markets are taking over leading positions in terms of economic growth and global redistribution of wealth. Thanks to the intensification of regional and inter-regional trade, a number of developing countries have achieved success, becoming powerful economic forces. Such ascent is a result of the high level industrialization and the rapid expansion of commercial relations between the borders. In addition, in countries where the development process is being carried out significant inflow of foreign direct investment was implemented, which means that these countries have obtained the desired status in global economic relations. In return, Georgia, as a transit country, will continue to support and contribute to any initiative that promotes regional and inter-regional integration and to the welfare of the South Caucasus / Caspian Sea / Central Asian wider regions," the Prime Minister of Georgian pointed out in his speech.
