On December 26, 2013, the Chamber of
Administrative Cases of the Supreme Court of Georgia granted the cassation
claim of Bidzina Ivanishvili. From the date when the decision of the Supreme
Court of Georgia came into force, the Presidential Decree ?602 (11.10.2011)
about the termination of the Georgian citizenship for Bidzina Ivanishvili has
been annulled, reports GHN based on information released by Supreme Court of
Georgia.
The cassation chamber noted that
according to the cross appeal lodged by the President of Georgia, the President
recognized the appeal (cassation appeals and complaints) of complainant Bidzina
Ivanishvili and accepted the legal basis of the decision annulment indicated in
the complainants appeal. The Supreme Court considered that the admission of
appeal does not violate the requirements of Georgian legislation and,
therefore, annulled the contested part of the controversial decree.
