Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, within the
working visit in Brussels, met with the President of the European Commission
José Manuel Barroso. The sides spoke about the cooperation issues of
Georgia-EU, integration process of Georgia and the important results obtained
on this way. Attention was paid to the initiation of EU-Georgia Association
Agreement and issues concerning its signing in short terms.
The sides also discussed the challenges which are facing the Eastern
Partnership countries, reports GHN based on Prime Minister's Press Service
information.
Prime Minister mentioned the ongoing processes
in Georgia including the events and specific reforms undertaken by the
government, for ensuring the democratic institutions and rule of law.
The discussions focused on regional security
issues, current situation of Georgia - Russia's relations, the situation in the
occupied territories and the European Union's importance in ensuring the
security in the region.
