On Monday, 3 February The Chief Prosecutor’s Office responded
to the statements made by defending party regarding Vano Merabishvili case
Prosecutor’s Office explains that during the court hearing two
key witnesses were questioned who approved charges submitted to Vano
Merabishvili, reports GHN.
“Statements made by defending party claiming that prosecution
witnesses gave evidence in favor of the accusation are not true and provides an
attempt of avoiding expected charges upon defendant.
Witnesses unanimously confirmed
that on May 26, 2011 law enforcing bodies acted according to Ivane Merabishvili
orders, with the aim not to dissolve peaceful meeting but to surround the protesters and execute massive arrests.” –
