According to the statement
made by Interior Minister of Georgia Alexandre Chikaidze punishment for illegal
surveillance will be stiffened which will consider seven year sentence instead of
three years.
The decision was made at
today’s government session by Minister’s Cabinet members said Chikaidze. He also added that persons who would address materials
depicting private life scenes to law enforcing agencies would be exempt from legal
responsibility.
Public Defender - Ucha Nanuashvili,
welcomed the decision made on restricting the law on illegal surveillance and
regarded the action as one of the ways to protect private life in future.
“Commission which was
working on case about materials consisting scenes from private life of persons
made the decision on restricting sanctions that would increase guarantees on
private life protection,” he commented.
