According to PM's Press Service Prime Minister of Georgia
Irakli Garibashvili met Executive Director of UN Population Fund and UN
Under-Secretary-General, Babatunde Osotimehin.
During the meeting, the plan for continuation of cooperation between Georgian
government and UNFPA was discussed. The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude
to UN Under-Secretary-General for the assistance that UNFPA has been rendering
for 15 years already. In his turn, the Executive Director of the Fund expressed
his hope that Georgian government will continue the current course of
collaboration. According to his statement, UNFPA will help our country to go
beyond the current success to make a genuine impact over the life of each
individual.
The meeting with Prime Minister of Georgia was attended also
by Werner Haug, Regional Director of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, UNFPA
representative for Turkey and Country Director for Georgia, Armenia and
Azerbaijan - Zahid Huque, UNFPA Assistant Representative in Georgia Lela
Bakradze.
