Yesterday, 19 February, Defence
Ministry of Georgia hosted diplomatic corps. Defence Minister Irakli Alasania
and his Deputy Mikheil Darchiashvili held meeting with Ambassador of European
Union Philip Dimitrov and the representatives of diplomatic corps of EU member
countries accredited to Georgia, informed MOD's office.
Defence Minister introduced the
diplomats fulfilled reforms, defence transformation issues and plans ahead. The
diplomats were also delivered information on Georgia’s engagement in
international operations and future plans in this respect. At the meeting the
sides focused on the importance of Framework Participation Agreement signed at
Vilnius Summit which deepens cooperation between EU and Georgia to the security
and defence policy directions. Georgia’s aspiration to contribute in global security
by participation in EU Crisis Management Operation together with NATO-led
missions was also highlighted at the meeting.
Defence Minister expressed gratitude
to the diplomats for their support in Georgia’s territorial integrity and
sovereignty, as well as Georgia’s aspiration to NATO and EU membership.
