Dato Kipiani was deceased in Kiev, the best Georgian. What was his purpose to be in Ukraine - enemies of Ukraine say that people like Dato are hired. When I saw Dato and his fellows in Kiev on my last visit in December, I felt embarrassed as I couldn't help them materially. They collected money for travelling to Kiev coin by coin and didn't have any money.
Dato was a member of "National Movement" but he was not fighting in Kiev for party or political purposes. To understand why Dato was in Kiev, first we should understand why Ukrainians were arriving to Georgia.
According to Ukrainian media, Yuri Verbitsky, who was deceased some time before Dato, was fighting in Abkhazia to protect Georgia. Everybody who do remember the war in Abkhazia, know the story about Ukrainian fighters surrounded by Russian special forces. Ukrainians were shouting out of loud that Georgians do not surrender and they were fighting against enemies until "the last man, last bullet". Then, Ukrainians were fighting for Georgia, therefore for Ukraine. In Kiev, Dato was fighting for Ukraine, therefore for Georgia, for Ukraine and Georgia hence for independence.
Dato's son won't remember father, but he will grow up in Georgia and in Ukraine which will be free of empire, which will be independent. She will know forever that flag of Georgia was proudly flying on Maidan. They attempted to seize Georgian flag from Dato, but he retained dignity, didn't bend the flag and later he was sacrificed, however he left Ukrainian Maidan as a winner.
