Former Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili
has boycotted trials. As he stated during his questioning with regard to the 26
May case he will not attend trials any more. According to him, he agreed to
participate in trial processes only to see his friends and family.
He mentioned that the hope of his family, relatives and friends
that something [verdict] will change based on some proofs or evidence is
pointless and held those actors (judge, prosecutors, lawyers) responsible for the verdict made on his case.
‘I want to tell my family members that I
feel comfortable in my cell. Don’t worry about me. I would have been very
unhappy if I were free since my friends are in prison or under pressure’,
Merabishvili said and left the courtroom.
