Within frames of his visit to US, Prime
Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili met The US Senator Ted Poe. The latter promised
his support to the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili in granting
NATO Membership Action Plan (MAP) to Georgia.
According to Prime Minister's
Press Service Senator Ted Poe, together with Congressmen Turner, Keating
and Angle, is an author of the support statement for Georgia, in which the US
Congress members applied to the US Secretary of State John Kerry and asked him
to provide support to Georgia in granting MAP at London Summit in 2014.
The Prime Minister thanked Senator Poe for his initiative and stated that
Georgia needs support in this regard very much, especially from such valued
friends as US Congressmen and Senators.
The parties also discussed the USA-Georgian bilateral relations. According to
Irakli Garibashvili, the Government of Georgia is confident that US Congressmen
and Senators will continue supporting the country in future.
The meeting with Senator Ted Poe was attended by the Minister of Foreign
Affairs of Georgia Maia Panjikidze, State Minister for European and
Euro-Atlantic Integration Alex Petriashvili, Ambassador of Georgia to the
United States - Archil Gegeshidze.
