In frames of his visit to US, Prime Minister
of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili met Congressman Adam Kinzinger.
According to Prime Minister's Press Service
the parties discussed USA-Georgia bilateral relations and visions of new
government of Georgia in this regard,
US Congressman expressed his interest in human
rights strategy and action plan of Georgian government. As Irakli Garibashvili
stated during the meeting, protection of human rights represent the main
priority of the Georgian government.
The Premier explained that before elaboration of the strategy, at the request
of the government of Georgia the basic research had been conducted by the EU
special representative on Legal and Constitutional Reform and Human Rights in
Georgia - Thomas Hammarberg.
According to the information provided by Irakli Garibashvili, the strategy and
action plan envisage the rights of minorities and the entire chapter is devoted
to this topic.
The meeting with Congressman Kinzinger was attended by the Minister of Foreign
Affairs of Georgia Maia Panjikidze, State Minister for European and
Euro-Atlantic Integration Alex Petriashvili, Ambassador of Georgia to the USA
Archil Gegeshidze and Foreign Affairs Service Adviser at the Chancellery of the
Government David Magradze.
