According to InterpressNews, Tina
Khidasheli, one of the leaders of the parliamentary majority, says it is very
important that the human rights report issued by the US Department of State
talks about the political persecution in Georgia only in the context of the
allegations made by the National Movement.
According to her, the topic of political
persecution does not go beyond the mentioned context.
“As a
rule the human rights report of the Department of State discusses all aspects,
though it is important that unlike several previous reports, this year the
report talks about the political persecution in Georgia only in the context
that some allegations were made by the National Movement. The report does not
say that the US Department of State confirms these allegations and does not
call on the Georgian government to prevent political persecution. The report
just says that the Department of State heard some allegations from the National
Movement. Of course, it is very important that no remark has been made beyond
the context of this fact”, Khidasheli said.
