The Mayor of Tbilisi first time in rank of Mayor met chairman of regional representation of European Reconstruction and Development Bank (EBRD) Bruno Balvanera, representative of Department of Municipal Ecological Infrastructure Johan Fredholm and working group of the bank, reports GHN.
EBRD offers the City Hall to finance projects of changing escalators in the subway, energy efficient street lights, solid waste recycling and project of city parking regulation. The bank is ready to give low-interest loan; third part of the loan will be grant. As Tbilisi mayor David Narmania said regulation of street light and parking is the part of his pre-election program. As he said these issues are very important and relations with the bank in different directions is necessary, because the budget of the capital is not enough to solve this problem and there is need to earn finances from donors.
David Narmania underlined the necessity of replacement of municipal transport with adapted transport that is working on alternative energy; as he stated there is need to carry out survey to learn the issue. Besides the Mayor stated that capital needs new bridges and overpasses that will solve the problem of traffic jams in Tbilisi. As for parking as Mayor said there is need to arrange underground parking infrastructure. David Narmania named as one of the priority solving problem of dumps. As he said Gldani and Lilo dumps don't satisfy standards and there is necessity to build waste processing plant.
As he said at the end of September there will be held international conference of donors. On the conference there will be discussed situation in the capital, priorities of the government. On the meeting there was agreed that working groups for both side will work on the proposals. The projects will be ready for May month 2015.
