On the 8th of September 2014, the Georgian First Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr Davit Zalkaliani met the Member of Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament, the rapporteur of the European Union on Georgia, Mr Andrejs Mamikins, reports GHN based on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The two discussed the current issues concerning the co-operation between Georgia and the European Union, including the issue of ratification of the Association Agreement between Georgia and the European Union by the European Parliament. It was noted that the European Parliament will ratify the Agreement by the end of this year. Special emphasis was put on the current situation in terms of security and stability in Georgia and on the European Union's role in the process of peaceful conflict resolution. The two, also, discussed the prospects of future co-operation between Georgia and the European Union.
When visiting the Georgian Foreign Ministry, Mr Mamikins has held a short introductory meeting with the Minister, Ms Maia Panjikidze.
