Servicemen of Special Mountain Battalion of Special Operation Forces returned from Afghanistan, reports GHN based on the Ministry of Defense.
149 battalion members were welcomed back home by the commander of Special Operation Forces, Lieutenant-Colonel Dimitri Kiknadze and U.S. Defence Attaché to Georgia, Colonel Mathew Dimmick at the Alekseevka military airfield. They congratulated Georgian military on peaceful return to homeland and thanked them for the successful completion of the ISAF mission. Special Mountain Battalion was serving at the Kandahar Air Base during six months. Under the U.S Command the Georgian military were carrying out the full spectrum of operations. Special Mountain Battalion returned home without suffering any casualties. All personnel of the battalion will arrive in Georgia in a few weeks.
