International Conference has been held in Georgia`s Black Sea town of Batumi. Democratic reforms and rule of law, challenges to global security, possibilities for economic integration and ties among peoples - these are the major subject sittings participants of the forum worked on.
Georgia`s Economy Minister, along with European politicians, also addressed the participants of the meeting. Mrs. Vera Kobaila stressed in her speech the country`s economic state and significance of creating a relevant business environment in the country for foreign investors. She said the country should intensively work on the free trade agreement.
"This conference is intended to assist to Georgia`s future integration and economic rapprochement to EU. It is important for us to have Georgia`s ore agricultural products sold at the EU markets. It is important that each person each family in Georgia have direct contacts with the daily works and projects connected to EU that are being carried out", she told media.
Participants of the conference also held bilateral meetings. European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule held a meeting with the head of teh parliamentary minority Giorgi Targamadze. Later he met with the chairman of the parliament Davit Bakradze. At the meeting with the speaker, three main issues were on the agenda - integration into EU and steps made for that; regional security - Russia-Georgia relations and the Geneva process; the upcoming parliamentary elections to be held in Georgia in October 2012.
